Rea Vaya construction & traffic update: 4-10 March

The newly completed fast lane on Marlboro Drive eastbound will speed up afternoon peak hour traffic flow - here's how the rest of Rea Vaya's construction will affect traffic this week.
On Clarendon Place and Louis Botha Avenue
From Tuesday, 1 March to Thursday, 3 March:
- Expect a north and southbound lane closure on Clarendon Place between Claim Street and Empire Road.
- Expect a northbound lane closure on Louis Botha Ave between Fir Street and Houghton Drive.
- Expect a north and southbound lane closure on Louis Botha Ave between Houghton Drive and Louis Road.
- Expect a southbound lane closure on Louis Botha Ave between Joe Slovo Drive and Cavendish Road.
- Expect a northbound lane closure on Louis Botha Ave between Joe Slovo Drive and Fir Street.
On Louis Botha Ave, between Louis Road in Orange Grove and Arkwright Ave in Wynberg, expect:
- A southbound lane closure between Hathaway and Athol Road.
- A northbound lane closure between Forest Road and Andries Street on Monday, 4 March.
On Katherine Street in Sandton
Expect a contra-flow deviation to be in place between Westbrook Drive and Amalinda Street to allow road works to continue along this stretch.
Expect lane closures between 09:00 am and 16:00 pm between Pongola Crescent and Marlboro Drive to allow for road marking to be completed.
Liberty Drive has been closed, but motorists should still obey the traffic lights as per traffic law requirements. Expect construction vehicles to enter and exit onto Katherine Street between Liberty Drive and Harris Street.
On Marlboro Drive in Sandton
Expect lane closures between 09:00 am and 16:00 pm to allow for road marking to be completed.
The newly constructed fast lane on Marlboro Drive eastbound is now open which will speed up afternoon peak hour traffic flow towards the M1 on-ramps.
On Lees Street in Wynberg
Lees Street will be closed during construction of the new BRT bridge over the M1 and the BRT connection with Pretoria Main Road. Only surrounding business stakeholders and employees will be allowed to use Lees Street. The public will be diverted via Carey and Cromarty Street.
Outsurance pointsmen on Katherine and Marlboro
Outsurance pointsmen will be deployed to facilitate traffic flow between 06:00 and 08:30 and between 15:30 and 17:30 at:
- The intersection of Katherine Street and Grayston Drive;
- The intersection of Katherine Street and Marlboro Drive;
- The intersection of Marlboro Drive and the M1 Highway South ramps; and
- The intersection of Marlboro Drive and the M1 Highway North ramps.
